Small group tutoring is provided by student tutors or Academic Support Center staff.
Persons who would benefit from tutoring:
- Students struggling with new subject matter who need additional explanation
- Students who need help with study skills and time management
- Students with learning disabilities
- Students with limited English proficiency
- Students whose college assessment scores indicate academic need
- Students making a return to the educational setting

How to request a tutor:
- Contact the Academic Support Center to make an appointment to meet with a tutor
How to benefit from tutoring sessions:
- Know your needs
- Set up specific tutoring sessions and be on time
- Come to your tutoring session prepared:
- Bring class syllabus / assignment due dates
- Bring completed or attempted assignment and textbook
- Bring your questions
- Time Management:
- Know your deadlines
- Take advantage of work time
- Socialize before and after tutoring time, not during the tutoring time
- Attend class - Remember your tutor is not a substitute for classroom attendance
- Call the Academic Support Center or your tutor if you are unable to keep your appointment
Scheduling:
- Varies depending on topic area, student need, and/or tutors' schedule
- Tutoring sessions typically meet 1 - 3 times per week in 30-50 minute time slots
- Students missing 2 consecutive appointments without prior notification will be dropped from the tutor's appointment book and will need to reschedule for future appointments.
THIS INFORMATION WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE IN ALTERNATE FORMAT, SUCH AS BRAILLE, LARGE PRINT OR CASSETE TAPE UPON REQUEST.
