The Student Affairs Team at South Central College is ready to help you reach your education and career goals. As you may know, our staff provides support to current students. However, did you know that they can help prospective students as well? We are happy to help you investigate career options and choose a program that is right for you.

NEW OPPORTUNITY: Beginning in January, a new program will be available at SCC - The Right Skills Now Machining Program. Right Skills Now (RSN) is a fast track precision manufacturing training program designed to enable both job seekers and employers meet the current demand for skilled workers. The RSN program at South Central College (SCC) is designed to give students the necessary entry level skills to safely and accurately operate CNC machine tools in a two-semester certificate program. Courses include Measurement, Materials & Safety; Job Planning, Benchwork & Layout; CNC Turning Operations and CNC Milling Operations. This broad-based course is centered on competencies that are currently embedded in the National Institute for Metalworking skills (NIMS) certification criteria.

After successful completion of this course students will have the opportunity to certify their knowledge

WHICH CAREER IS RIGHT FOR ME? If you want to attend college, but are not sure about which career path to choose, our Career Center can help. Lisa Schickling, SCC’s licensed professional counselor, has many resources available. If you prefer to use online resources, visit our website at www.gpslifeplan.org/southcentral . This online tool, GPS Lifeplan, contains Career and Education modules that can guide your investigation. Another option to assist you in your decision-making is to meet with Lisa. This meeting may include doing a career assessment, providing ways for you to gather career information, as well as mapping out an educational plan. ATTEND SCC! If you need some help navigating the college application process, the financial aid application (FAFSA), or have questions about getting started in college we can help! Elizabeth Prange, SCC Academic and Financial Aid Advisor, can provide direction and support as you get started.
