South Central College Names Dean of the Southern Minnesota Center of Agriculture
Faribault and North Mankato, MN - South Central College is pleased to announce that Bradley Schloesser has accepted the position of Dean of the Southern Minnesota Center of Agriculture. Schloesser will represent South Central College as well as Minnesota West Community & Technical College in this new initiative to expand the footprint of services to producers, agribusinesses and ag lenders throughout Southern Minnesota. Schloesser has 30 years’ experience teaching production agriculture and agribusiness related coursework to many students in southern MN, the past 20 years as an agribusiness faculty member for South Central College. Schloesser has a B.S. in Agricultural Education from the University of Minnesota, and a Master’s in Animal Science from Montana State University. Schloesser will assume his new duties January 2, 2013.
Schloesser comments, “I am looking forward to developing this collaborative model to grow opportunities for the Southern Minnesota Center of Agriculture while working with students, farmers and our agribusiness community members. I am eager to serve on the team with the faculty and students as we build relationships across Southern Minnesota."
The Southern Minnesota Center of Agriculture
South Central College and Minnesota West Community & Technical College are poised to lead an initial group of partners comprising a Center of Agriculture with a meeting scheduled for December of this year. Serving as the lead institution of the Center, it will bring together a collaboration of Minnesota Colleges and Universities institutions, and other regional land grant universities, school districts, business, industry, government, professional associations and community partners.
This Center, a public-private partnership, will become a collaborative arrangement of partners that seek to coordinate and engage in:
- Program development and research
- Professional preparation and development of agriculturalists and agriculture educators
- Domestic and international entrepreneurial and marketing opportunities
- Partnership development of those who have interest in the econcomic development opportunities within agriculture and related industries
- Resource development

Brad’s leadership is a crucial step in SCC’s continual effort to advance our agricultural programming and better serve this important sector of our economy.”
South Central College offers over 50 technical majors, including a variety of Agribusiness majors, as well as transferrable Liberal Arts and Sciences education. SCC’s Agribusiness offerings include a 2 +2 Agricultural Education Technology Partnership with the University of Minnesota.
