South Central College Student Chosen as the only Minnesota recipient of the

MAEOPP Silas Purnell Scholarship

Faribault MN – South Central College is proud to announce that Jessica Drentlaw of Faribault has been chosen as the 2012 recipient of a $1000 Silas Purnell Scholarship from the Mid-America Association of Educational Program Personnel (MAEOPP). Jessica is pursuing her AA degree as South Central College on the Faribault campus.  She plans to transfer to the U of M or MSU for a Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Anthropology.  Jessica currently has a 3.78 GPA and plans to graduate from South Central College in the spring 2013.


The Mid-America Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (MAEOPP) is a recognized 501(c)3 non-profit consortium of professionals with the specific purpose of leveling the playing field of educational opportunity for first generation, low income, and disabled students. MAEOPP is the representative professional body for colleges, universities and agencies that host federally-funded TRIO educational opportunity programs within ten states in the great Midwest


About the Scholarship:

To be eligible a student must:

Be a current TRiO student
Have a minimum GPA 2.8
Demonstrate involvement in co-curricular and/or community involvement
**Jessica was the one student from the MN chapter to win the $1,000 scholarship for fall semester!**
