The South Central College Faribault Campus Foundation was founded in 1983 as the Faribault Area Vocational Technical Trust Association to promote community post-secondary education in the Faribault area. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization governed by a board of directors comprised of individuals from the area, including South Central College alumni.
Summary of the Year
Using the theme Make A Difference, under the leadership of volunteer fund drive co-chairs Chuck & Pat Umbreit, the Foundation’s 2008-09 annual fund drive raised over $114,000. Thanks to the generosity of area businesses and individuals, the Foundation awarded $78,600 in scholarships to 99 students for the 2009-2010 academic year.
Steve Underdahl understands blueprints and he’s dedicated to helping South Central College fulfill its mission to help students achieve success through higher education. As a long-time supporter of the Faribault Campus Foundation and Chair of the 2009-10 fund drive, Steve agreed to lead this effort because he believes South Central College is a vital asset to the current and future economic success of this region.
Steve has lived in Faribault for nearly 50 years and has owned procon, Inc., a construction services company, for 36 years. He has served in leadership positions for the Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce, and on the Faribault Planning Commission, Economic Development Authority, and various professional associations. He currently serves as a Faribault City Councilor and Vice President of the Board of the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation.
“My goal as fund drive chair is to assist the Foundation and the College in creating opportunities for students from our region to receive high quality secondary education. With your financial support we will enable students to experience personal growth and contribute their talents to the region’s growing business needs. Together we can help them construct better futures."
