Program Information

Automation Domination
Computer Integrated Machining (CIM) utilizes analytics and automation in the precision manufacturing process, to take a production idea from design to development to finished product. With manufacturing booming, the need for machinists is as great as ever. And graduates from South Central College’s Computer Integrated Machining (CIM) program get hired – with a 93% field placement rate! South Central College’s CIM program includes a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on application. Machining labs feature state-of-the-art equipment, with equipment by Haas Automation and other leading manufactures, assuring you’ll gain hands on experience utilizing today’s technology. Maybe that’s why South Central College CIM students brought home medals in 13 different categories in the 2014 Minnesota SkillsUSA competition and the Automated Manufacturing Technology team took Silver at the national competition!

Your instruction at South Central College will begin with the “Right Skills Now” program of the National Association Manufacturers (NAM). This accelerated program, which is automatically embedded into the first semester curriculum for all CIM students, enables you to earn four NAM-endorsed certificates from the National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS) in your very first semester at South Central College. Then you can earn an additional seven NIMS certificates while pursuing your Associate of Applied Science Degree, which certifies you for the NIMS Machining Level I credential. And because the NIMS certificates are nationally recognized and build upon one another, you have the flexibility to obtain each certificate at a time that is right for you and leverage these credentials to advance your career.
