The Foundations on the Faribault and North Mankato Campuses of SCC awarded over $1/4 Million dollars in scholarships in 2007! Funds for these scholarships are raised in a variety of ways including community-wide fund drives, faculty, staff, and alumni contributions, earnings on endowed funds, grants, and special fundraising events. There are many types of scholarships available, and you don’t have to be a straight-A student to qualify for an award. Depending on the award, criteria may include academic achievement, financial need, program area, community involvement, work experience, participation in student activities, etc. Awards range from $100 to full tuition, and all SCC students are eligible to apply!
The Presidential Scholarship is a full-tuition scholarship available to high school seniors admitted as full-time SCC students for the Fall semester. To qualify for this award, students must possess a GPA of 3.75 or above and exhibit leadership skills and community involvement. This is just one example, and there are hundreds of other scholarships available based on many different criteria.
The application deadline for the next round of funding is March 21, 2008, and funds will be disbursed at the start of Fall Semester 2008. Applications are available online and in the Student Affairs Centers on both campuses. Students who complete the scholarship application will be considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible.
Foundation volunteers work hard each year to raise funds for these scholarships, and we have had overwhelming support from the businesses and individuals in Mankato, Faribault, and the surrounding communities. Supporters of the Foundations want to help SCC students succeed at achieving their goals! Hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarship funds will be available again this year. You won’t be considered if you don’t apply, so we encourage you to complete a scholarship application!
